FOUNDER | INTER-DISCIPLINARY DESIGNER,
CREATOR, DISRUPTER & CHANGE MAKER
Where Design Meets Neuropsychology, Biophilia, and Art
Damian Tang is a visionary leader in the built environment and landscape industry, recognized for his pioneering work in human-centric, regenerative design. As the founder of URDX, he has redefined the role of design, neuroscience, psychology, and art in shaping spaces that promote mental well-being, resilience, and emotional healing.
With over two decades of experience in public service, international collaborations, and civic design, Damian has consistently pushed the boundaries of interdisciplinary innovation, integrating scientific research, design methodologies, and psychological insights into the built environment. His expertise extends across urban planning, therapeutic landscapes, and immersive art experiences, ensuring that environments support both human well-being and ecological regeneration.
A Transformational Journey
Despite his professional achievements, Damian’s journey took a deeply personal turn when he faced stress, anxiety, and depression at the peak of his career. This pivotal moment led him to re-examine his purpose, embarking on a profound path of self-discovery, emotional recovery, and mental resilience. His experience brought a new awareness of the psychological and physiological impacts of urbanization, climate crises, and societal pressures on mental health, particularly among children and vulnerable communities.
As part of his commitment to therapeutic and regenerative design, Damian further developed a research interest in child psychology, exploring the Mind-Body-Art connection and its role in emotional healing. This passion led to the creation of Regenerative Art Experiences, a unique approach that integrates art therapy, neuroscience, and embodied experiences to facilitate emotional expression, reduce stress, and promote holistic well-being.
Bridging Design, Psychology, and Healing
Damian’s work spans a diverse range of initiatives, from public spaces and civic engagement projects to post-disaster recovery planning and community empowerment programs. His contributions include:
• Developing therapeutic and healing spaces that enhance mental resilience and emotional well-being
• Facilitating community-driven projects, including urban gardens, sensory landscapes, and public art interventions
• Leading post-disaster planning and regeneration efforts in vulnerable regions such as Timor-Leste and Tohoku, Japan.
• Pioneering strategic frameworks for regenerative cities, integrating mental wellness, sustainability, and resilience
• Advancing research in child psychology and therapeutic design, focusing on the intersection of mindfulness, art, and neuroscience
Beyond his role as a designer and strategist, Damian is a thought leader and mentor, dedicated to reshaping the way environments influence human experience. Through URDX, he continues to bridge the gap between science and creativity, ensuring that design is not just about aesthetics—but about life, healing, and transformation.
